From May 21 to 24, Tamura, Yoichi and Imamura, Chihiro (Nagoya University), along with Kohno, Kotaro (University of Tokyo) from the LST project, participated in the AtLAST workshop held in Mainz, Germany.

Over 80 researchers gathered to engage in active discussions about the new astronomy that will be pioneered by large-aperture submillimeter telescopes, as well as the new telescopes and observation instruments needed to realize this vision. The millimeter-wave adaptive optics and genetic algorithm-based antenna structure optimization proposed by Tamura and Imamura attracted the attention of engineers from OHB, the company responsible for the design of the AtLAST telescope, fostering expectations for future collaborative research. A joint management meeting between the LST project and the AtLAST project was also held on May 23, where the overarching policy of integrating both projects was reaffirmed, and the methods for advancing this integration were discussed.
